Moving in....

...got a great opportunity (I think ) to move into the flat which is part of Sarahs house.

Was her parents suggestion and by all accounts a good one.

3 bedroom flat, mahoosive living room and decent sized kitchen. Needs some minor cosmetic work (couple of ceilings need replacing and the hall needs replastering) but nothing major. So ideal set up in the living room for all my AV equipment

The other part is that I get to have their second biggest outbuilding as my garage. Again needs a lot of work (roof tiles have slipped, needs refelting, new doors and window and needs kitting out properly with lights and sockets). But its at least 2.5 cars wide with plenty of length too, which means enough room to work around the GTS when I like. Plus it will be easier to get out as and when I like (can use it during the week too )

The best bit is they only want to split the bills as they come in rather than us paying rent. Which means it should be relatively cheap too. Which means I can continue to save for my own house, but with less of a rush.

Plus I will get to see Sarah every day (soppy eh?)

Just felt like sharing

David

do you get on with them? Do they have a habit of "dropping in".

I know it sounds a small thing, but it becomes pretty annoying after a while, and because its there place it can be awkward.

Even more awkward is if your not paying full whack in rent, as you feel oblidged to let things slip that you owuldn;t with a commercial land lord.

Not saying its a bad idea - but there are things to consider.

Lol, we get on really well. I spend 5 nights a week there anyway (infact I am there now).

I am quite happy to do the works thats needed as we arent paying rent and we have agreed that there is no limit on how long we can stay.

Basically I am finding it more and more difficult to spend any time at home anyway, my mum nags me constantly about buying a house and moving out. All of my workshop equipment is here anyway which will make life a bit easier from that respect too. I shoot on their land as well. So to be fair to them I amd 90% moved in already and they dont get anything for it.

Lol

Its huge, including the flat its 9 bedrooms. Was originally 5 terraced cottages but now all knocked into 1. Has a shop front and probs an acre of garden, 6 or 7 big outbuildings and a large workshop.

The whole house needs renovating, but as its so old its a never ending battle!

Sounds like the perfect place to do a duratec install after doing the work on the garage which should allow a couple more months of driving your motor and seeing the summer out.. Sounds like a plan to me!!!

You get on with them now Dave, but if it were me, I would want to be paying at least a small amount of rent, so that it was on a more official level... (if you know what I mean?)
