Tax Bands and CO2

So I was just about to purchase the TD5 disco i have been looking at. I checked the road tax band and it is band K, but the emmisions are 262, which should put it in the highest band which is twice as much (over 400 quid). But after reading the DVLA site, it says that any car registered between 2001-2006 with higher co2 than 225 will TEMPORARILY be in band K until 2011!! WTF!! So will it suddenly jump 2 bands in 18 months time or not??? Does anyone know anything about this???

Yes, you read that right. When the new high tax bracket was introduced, the tax on existing cars in the higher bracket was held at the lower level for 2 years (18 months now). It's so that if you already owned a car it gives you time to get rid or get used to it.
