Track advice to see if car is OK?
My car is very near to completion and hope to have rear wheel arches by end of week and then fit the lights.
From that point I would be applying for the IVA test, but!
I was wondering about trying to prove the car on a track to check brakes, that it performs, etc. All the things you would like to do before it goes
down the road to the test centre, to give myself some confidence it will not fall apart on me.
Being sure other have been in the situation before me I would ask what is possible. The car has a roll bar not a cage. It is done for the road so
not prepared for racing with cut outs etc.
So I doubt it would pass scrutineers for any race events, it does not have the road test as yet, are there any options, any groups that hire a big
airfield, closed motorways or even a race track when no race events are happening.
Based in the North West, i am also part way through building a trailer for the car to transport it around.
Any advice with out running the risk of being foul of the law!

should be fine for a track day. cars don't always need MOTs etc for a track day. depends on the track i think. at some, its checked over by
scrutineers and passed if ok.
roll bar should be fine

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

As above, most tracks require the car to be in mot'able condition, but you never have to present it.
Its something I will be doing with mine if only to bed in the brakes, nut and bolt check it after some hard miles, check for leaks etc.

I plan to do exactly the same in September. The trick is finding somewhere at the right price! Its an expensive day if you spend it in the pits
reattaching bits!

OK so my thoughts were not totally stupid, as I do sometimes wonder. Next I need to know how to prep myself, what do I need in way of helmets,
clothing being fire proof? Or am I going over the top.
I think Oulton Park will be the closest to me, but not sure if I want to race just prove the car at this stage,

All you need is a track day. No racing involved. You might have to speak to the organisers first before booking as your car isn't yet
registered. Clothing wise all you need is a helmet and long sleeved top to do a track day.
How about this one. There might still be places available.

Have a look to see what Javelin have on offer
Here
The airfield events are the best for a beginner/test run no hard barriers and huge run off areas for when your going faster than your brakes can stop
you
As said above just a helmet and arms covered is all thats needed, no vehicle inspection required apart from the noise limit.
