don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I thought they only made 1.4 and 1.6's ?

try this: linky
it'll tell you how much and what grade
(and the extra oil specs that some engines need, like the ford 913A/912A1 specs the zetecs want etc....)

its a 1495 cc engine

what is the best way to do an oil change, is it better to let the engine warm slightly before draining to allow the oil to thin out and reduce viscosity or just do it straight from cold?

warm it first, it'll run out easier
would be worth running some engine flush in it too i think

You mate is mistaken, Ford haven't made a 1.5L production engine for donkeys years (Taunus V4 is the last one I can think of) and the Escorts were never fitted with one.

An MY2000 Escort will either be a 1.6 Zetec E or the nasty old 1.8 Endura turbo diesel.
