classic british bikes
Brother in law fancies a 60's classic british bike.He wants something
that will appreciate in value whilst he maintains it and uses it.
What would be a short list of suitable manufacturers and models to
choose from.To the best of your ability and using your vast knowledge
put them in order of priority.
He uses an upright (tourer ?) Yamaha having had superbikes so that sort
of thing. He has been looking at Bonnevilles but his knowledge of
british bikes is not vast.
regards
steve

Unless he gets something like a vincent or squariel, 68/9 T120 Bonneville, I think he would be better accepting it is not going to increase in value,
but more importantly not decrease, just hold its own.
The glory years of old bikes and cars leaping in value are over I'm afraid, and parts for basket case resto's are prohibitive now.

My wish list would probably start with a Norton (Interstate or similar) followed by a Velo (though Venoms are now pricey and Thruxtons
stratospheric)
then Triumph, then BSA.
Maybe also consider a Royal Enfield as they aren't as sought after but pretty solidly built.

As above, but also consider a Norton Commando or BSA Starfire as well, have a look at their owners clubs for more info.

I greatly regret selling my BSA A65 Star which was a really lovely bike to ride
