I'm gonna be a dad!
After 14 weeks i've been given the green light to tell everyone 
So far everyone is happy and healthy, just so excited.
So, the MX-5 has to go, but don't worry, the Striker is staying.......
Any advice?

Congrats ! Start stocking up on Baby wipes and nappies ! Elliot (my little boy) has just turned 8 weeks old, Danielle (other half) went 16 days over
due in the end !
Exactly the same situation as yourself - our MX5 had to go, and we got a sensible 120d in the end.
One thing i wish i had done was to take a baby seat with us when car shopping - with the baby seat in the back, the 1 series requires the front seat
to be pushed nearly all the way forward, which makes for a cramped passenger ride !.

Congrats as for the Advice
1 Breast is best ( get you out of doing the bottles for the first 6 months)
2 Sigh up for NCT classes ( did these for our first ) best £100 I ever spent
3 take lots of pictures they will be different next week
4 Everything is a Phase
5 Still like my dads words of when they arive " keep both ends clean and you wont go too far wrong "
Our fist started school today dont know where 4 years have gone but the MNR is still under a layer of crud in the garrag
Our second ( 7 months old ) decided that as dad was back to work after 2 weeks in france ( where he splept htrough every night ) he would be wide
awake and telling everyone from 01:00 until approx 05:30

Second the NCT thing - our classes were pointless (although ive heard that we just had a poor lady running ours) but the lady's all tend to get
together and thats really helped in the weeks afterwards - so much so i have trouble keeping up with her 'lady's who do lunch'
social life !.

Thanks guys.
SWMBO is very excited as am I. Already booked the NCT course, so glad i'm on the right track already. 14 weeks have flown by - but its nice to
start making shopping lists again - although no car parts for a while.
thanks for the advice, especially baby seat tip - will do that thanks.
I'm tired now, how much more tired can I get?

Advice:
1: If they're whining like hell they're either hungry, tired, or need changing - simples
2: As stated take photos! lots, I got loads of they're hands on mine etc cos give it a year and you wouldn't believe how small they once
were
3: Bring it up your way, don't listen to any other people cos it'll just get you down
4: This is the important one - DRINK!!! You've got 26 weeks of free taxi service ahead of you, use it to the fullest!!!
Seriously though just enjoy it!!!
Check how small my ham sandwich thiefs bite used to be!!! It's stupid photos like this you like to look back at

I still meet up with my 'NCT chums' 3 years on! Nice to have a bunch of people at the same stage, and we got lucky that they are all
proper good lads/lasses.
My advice after the bugger arrives is to get a routine as soon as possible. Our second is now 14 weeks old, sleeps through every night, we put him
down at half 6 and dont usually hear a peep til 7am.
Other thing is, dont feel that you have to breast feed; they rant on about it but if it doesnt work, it doesnt work - sack it off and go onto bottles.
My wife was breastfed and got eczema and asthma anyway!

Very true, the wife was under immense pressure from her midwife mother to breastfeed the first one, drove her round the bend - cue lots of stress and
arguments between them then me blowing my top and my daughter going on bottles. Situation solved.
On the flip side my boy was easy for her to feed it just somehow clicked and she went with it for months and months.
So either it works for your Mrs or it doesn't. Breast isn't best, what works is best

Congratulations on the news your going to be a dad,
I've got two little ones 4 & 5, the 4 yr old is starting full time school on Thursday, I just can't believe how fast time has flown
by. Get a decent camera (if you haven't already got one) and snap snap snap away with those pics and videos.

Also worth mentioning Norfolkluego will be a Granddad for the third time.....
Wife plans on breastfeeding, but i've told her its her choice, no pressure from me. My niece and nephew were bottle fed and you couldn't
ask for two nicer kids.
Any video camera recommendations?

Regards Breastfeeding - we have been lucky so far and he's taken it like a duck to water (so to speak !). One thing that we are finding good is
for the miss's to express one bottle at least every day and get them used to taking the bottle rather than 'having it on draft'.
That way should you be left home alone with said baby, its not such a massive trauma.
Baby Car seats - we got one of those ISOFIX bases which always then stays in the car. The baby seat then just slots into the base, so there's no
messing with seat belts. Not cheap but would highly recommend

Might be worth double checking that, because on ours you still need to put the seatbelt round the back of it once its clicked into the base. Pretty
sure most are like that.

It isn't trust me, I still vividly remember looking at the empty maxi cosi having just bought and done up a house (we were still with our
parents when we found out she was expecting) and saying to her "isn't it mad, a week and our baby'll be in there" and we were
both just sat there staring at all the stuff we had ready.
That was 7 years ago just gone in Aug!

Both ours were brought up on both breast and bottle as but if you get them to feed from mum there is not much you can do at 3am in the Morning
.
a baby seat that goes between car and buggy is good so you dont have to wake them.

ours is 3 months old lying on the bed infront of the misses and me. Our advice ... Enjoy every day. Get a car seat base that does isofix and seat
belt. They are really practical and make it a doddle to fit the car seat. Check your car actually has isofix in it and not just compatible - some
fords and merc's have isofix as a no cost extra so lots are missing them. Go to nct and be prepared for lots of breast is best. Then ignore it
and make your own mind up. Also get in bottles and pre made milk just in case - you don't want at 2am monday morning when everything is closed
to be hunting for bottles and milk with your misses at her whits end and screaming baby (shops are not open 24 x 7!). Don't expect to do
anything when on paternity. Take pictures. Feed and wipe bottoms - it brings you closer and your misses will love you. Stock the freezer. Ask for help
from family. Tell people to leave you alone as they'll all want to just pop round and you'll be shattered. Get a range of nappys as some
fit better than others. Get a week by week baby book so you can read what may happen before you panic your baby hasn't poo'd for 4 days.
Would type more but on hols and someone needs dressing. Good luck.

Congrats to you both..
Make the most of it. Believe me they soon grow up and before you know it you are a Grand-parent and that is a great feeling believe it or not..
Advise; Make sure you keep your self a toy at all times!! I was well into bikes and I always made sure I had one at all times. Ok a family car is a
must but a man needs his toy's still :
