Attention to detail

An absolutely beautiful 1:32 scale model of a Mil 24 Hind.

Over 100,000 parts were used in this model, many of them fabricated under a microscope to ensure accuracy.

That is pretty impressive but I do have to ask "Why?"

It has no function other to sit on a shelf and gather dust..

Model making isn't about the finished product, it's more about the actual building, you could ask 'why?' for alot of other hobbies that are essentially pointless (Like Fishing, where you put the fish back?).

I'd rather have one of those sitting on my bookcase than the sort of ornaments most people have.

Impressive patience for sure. It kept him off the streets, thus he is unlikely to be mugged.

Would have to be a pretty big shelf to fit an unfinished car?

What happens to the other 20% that aren't sitting on a shelf and gathering dust?
