Another electrical question
Situation is that I'm wiring a 32A feed externally via armoured cable. I'm using 2-core 2.5mm rated at 36A which needs a 20mm gland.
However, the appliance only has a knock-out for 25mm grommet, I assume because it was originally designed for the US market and would be 64A at 110v
needing bigger cable.
I'm using the armour as the earth so the gland needs to be secured to the metal casing in the terminal box, as well as wiring the earth tag of
course.
What's the accepted procedure here? Do I force the cable into a 25mm gland or is there some kind of adaptor (I guess like a washer) to allow a
20mm gland to fit a 25mm hole? Or, am I supposed to blank off the 25mm and drill my own 20mm somewhere else on the casing?
Cheers, Chris

Easiest was is to use a 25/20mm reducer. This fits in the 25mm hole and is secured with either a flat hex lock nut or a lock ring. You will now be
able to screw your 20mm gland into the reducer. Make sure the earth tgs are fitted at each end and connected to the earth terminals in whatever
enclosure you have at each end.
Any decent electrical wholesaler should have these on the shelf, but if you cannot get hold of one let me know and I will pop one in the post for the
price of a pint of Peroni.

Jon
