New drills needed....
My trusty(!) Ferm sds drill has died, done well as it has had some abuse over the 6 years or so I have had it. Sadly my Bosch drill/driver (one of the
GSB range) is also feeling a little lack-lustre too.
Anyway, it is unlikely that I will be doing much in the way of demolition of walls again, but the very occasional 100mm hole is required (via drilling
then chiselling) as well as various other sizes for plumbing wastes and so on. Apart from that it is holes in walls.
My drill/driver gets used relatively lightly now too.
So, i was wondering if anybody has experience of "site" tools, made by Makita apparently. Specifically this kit:
http://www.screwfix.com/p/site-240v-2-3kg-sds-plus-drill-14-4v-drill-driver-twin-pack/29217
as it appears decent value if the tools are reasonable.
Or any other alternatives. I do want an SDS drill as normal hammer drills are naff in comparison. And it needs to be used as a chisel too.
I don't want to spend a fortune either, so the 2 need to come it around the £100 or so mark.
Cheers

I loved my 18v site drills, they were fantastic for the money til some twunt borrowed them, along with my jigsaws and router.
However, this drill represents better value for money for just the sds aspect:

Depending on what you do, a 14.4v site cordless might be a bit lame. You'd end up spending over £100 total to get a more decent cordless. I got
a bosch one from b&q for £86, but it too is a little lame.
My old 18v site had 3 batteries and was only £50. Gutted i didnt buy a few more!

Thanks for the confidence vote for the "site" stuff.
I saw the direct power jobbie, it is VERY similar to the ferm one I have. Worth a though I guess.
Know what you mean about cordless quality. The current one is the GSB VE2 jobbie, so pretty decent if not high voltage. It used to rip you arm off on
full torque, but sadly no more. About 8 years old now though, so fair enough.
Will have a think.
