Can anyone here cut a piece of shim steel??

I'm after a new valve for my compressor as a piece chipped off.

It's 0.25mm steel from what I can tell, and it's approx 45mmx18mm (I can send a drawing or dxf file if needed). Elongated D shape with two locating pin holes on the straight end (approx 2mm diameter).

I don't know what the normal process for cutting these out is, but if someone here could do it cheaply, that would be much appreciated as the compressor is just sitting there at the moment.

Alternatively if anyone has an off-cut of shim steel I could probably cut something out of it by hand?!? (or is that being too ambitious)?

I've got 3 of them so need to get them all in tip-top condition and then consolidate my collection

Thanks

That sort of thickness can be cut with a pair of scissors. To cut the holes drill
a 2mm hole in a piece of thick steel, lay your shim accurately in place and then
rest a 3 or 5mm ballball bearing over drilling and a sharp tap with a hammer
should cut out a nice hole.

Same technique lets you make gaskets easily.

Pretty sure I've something suitable in the lockup. Will have a look tomorrow.

Got a piece here about 90x45, enough for a spare one as well.....or a second if you cock up the first
Bit of surface rust on one side unfortunately but will still work fine.

U2U your address and I'll pop it in the post.
