Rota software?

We have to set rotas for work. Anyone know and can recommend any good software that can manage it?

I need an intelligent tool that can set rotas for staff working in teams of varying size, taking account of numerous work requirements and staff preferences and constraints. It needs to deal with re-scheduling last minute changes with minimum disruption to the rota.

The problem is that it is usually impossible to match all work requirements and staff preferences. So its about balancing compromises.

Ideas?

thanks in advance

Dave

Really depends what platform you want to run it on and how it is to be used..

I would be looking for an open source PHP web application to do the job...

googling "open source php staff management" comes up with a LOT of info...
