O/T - Sky HD+ Issues
Hi all.
Having issues with our Sky HD+ box (suprise, suprise!). It's been a PITA a lot recently, keeps coming up with 'No Satellite Signal Being
Received' on some channels. If we turn the box off at the wait for around 20 secs, then back on, it seems to work most times, but we're
doing this several times a day some days!
I've tried the planner rebuild thing, did try the full reset a while ago but it still seems to do it.
The box is around 4 years old so I wouldn't be suprised if it was on the way out, but any ideas from the Oracle would be gratefully received.

I had the same problem, unplugging the box reset it.
Sky come round and put a new box in, its smaller than the old one and its been rock hard since them, about 5 months now.
Give them a call and see what they say...

I did think about that chap but as the box is a few years old they will probably try to rip me for somoe more cash for a new box and a callout so no
too keen on that route.

If they try to do that, tell them you're cancelling.
It may also be the dish - we had similar issues with our Sky+ Box. When the HD man came round to install the HD box, he couldn't actually get a
signal on the wire so installed a new Dish.
Basically call them up and tell them you are cancelling because the equipment is faulty. Stick to your guns and eventually you will get to someone
able to give you a callout for free....if you push you may even be able to get 6 months half price on top....

Go and have a look at the dish see if any trees have grown in front of it (happened to me last year), check signal reception and quality on the
service settings on the box. Sounds more like your dish needs a tweek rather than your box.
Check the cable is the boot still on the plug dish end, unplug it and check the coppers not gone mankey. Unplug the box before you do this otherwise
you may take out the psu in the box.
Cheers,
Bob

I've just recently had this. If its a Thomson box it very likely the capacitors in the power supply are failing.
If you look on satcure they sell a rebuild kit for about £14. If you can solder it's pretty easy or send it to them to fix. Changed mine and has
been great since. My capacitor were bulging. If thy let go they can damage the psu board. They give full detailed instruction too

Yep, it's a Thomson, I've been in electronics most of my working career but couldn't be R'sed to start fault finding, but I
think I'll whip the back of and look for some overweight capacitors . If not, I've been offered a 12month old one for £35 so not bad. I
could always get a repair kit if it is the caps and still buy the other box, at least I would have a spare box then too.
Cheers guys.
