Blocking calls/texts on an o2 mobile ?

I seem to get a good deal more spam calls/texts, than my wife,
They range from insurance claims to just weird stuff, how can i stop them!

Im a shift worker, and need to keep the phone on, but to be woken with shite like this is doing my head in!

Official word from Orange:

Call the police

Oh you could change your number... Which helps when I find it's Orange that's giving it out!

Istr something about fixed dialling so you can only send and recieve calls to a small list

What phone do you have?

On some Android phones you have an option within each contact to select "Send straight to voicemail".

There are several limitations with this though:

You have to store the numbers that keep calling,
It relies on them using the same numbers time and again,
Doesn't work with withheld numbers,
Won't stop those bloody text messages!!!!!

Oh and you need an Android phone!

Do mobile networks not do something similar to BT Privacy (as I think it was called) such that these types of numbers, rather than specific numbers, are blocked at network level?

On some phones you can assign specific ringtones to specific people.

Answer= silent mp3 ringtone for everyone with non-silent ones for people in your phonebook
