Wireless Surround Sound
Does anybody have any experience of wireless surround sound in the home ?
Got a bigger telly now and was thinking of a home cinema type sound system to go with it
Would prefer to go wireless if possible as i don't fancy running wires around the wood floor in the lounge 
Being 'a bit' of a tight arse i don't really want to throw a lot of money at doing this
Any help appreciated

Not really available as a standard product.
I wanted the same thing and came up with a blank (pretty much).
Panasonic have some ( SC-ZT1 ) but they were expensive when I looked.
Annoying really as it seems like an obvious product.

I would think the cheapest way is to go for wood effect (brown) trunking an run cables.

The wires aren't that hard to conceal if you have carpet ?
You still need to power the speakers which can be a pain finding a power source close to where you want them, for this reason I went wired when I
looked into it.

i would advise going for a soundbar. its basically a large front center speaker which simulates 5.1. decent ones arent exactly cheap but are very very
good. id say you could pick up a very good second hand one for under £300 and you dont need to run wires to the back of the room. u2u me if you want
more info. im into surround sound and stuff.
i would avoid a wireless system if i was you.
would also recoomend an onkyo surround sound amp with hd switching. theyy are very good also!

I must admit I'm a traditionalist with a 6.1 monitor audio radius speaker system and a Sony amp, bluray player and TV, you can't beat a
hard wired system for full on sound quality.

I ran some thin trunking all around the top of the walls flush to the ceiling for my cables. It's not that noticeable ( white trunking and a
white ceiling) even though it's mounted on the wall it blends into the ceiling. I used the self adhesive trunking and rawl plugs and only took
an hour or two. Made running a fresh cable into the kitchen much easier too.

shouldnt run 240v cables with low voltage really. but probably wont make much difference.
im like you mr c. but i have sony amp,blu ray,cambridge audio cd player and monitor audio RS1 silver speakers.its good, but not a patch on my dali
ikon 6 setup i had. but at £2500 they were too much when i had a car to build,so i sold em

Sorry, should have explained better, it was running an aerial cable into the kitchen and the only cables are that and the speaker cables. Annoyingly
now we don't have Sky the aerial serves no purpose!

Even witha wireless, youve still gotta run power cables to the speakers, so might as well just run a few extra foot of audio cable along the carpet
line, and spend the money saved on a better quality wired kit.

Do you have skirting boards ? You can hide the wires behind them or if there's a tiny gap at the bottom you can push the wire in with a flat
implement.

Look up MJ Acoustics - bloke is a genius with this stuff (lives next door).
I have his wired system with a Sony amp and its awesome.
He has a wireless set up in his house which plays all different stuff in different rooms, way beyond me but pretty cool.
Does speakers in all sorts of colours and finishes, you could even have say Kawasaki green (bec) Ford blue etc in your garage!
And its made in the UK !

Thanks for the info lads
Probably going to bite the bullet and go either with the sound tube idea or hiding the cable around the edge of
the room
Perhaps technology will move on and wireless will be more do-able in the future
