How stiff is a rod end?
I am thinking of making a steadycam using a rod end as the gimbal, but I have no idea of how stiff the ball is within the casing. If loose, then the
idea is a go!
Something like eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

Guess it depends how heavy your camera and balance weights are really.
If you are talking about a small point and shoot camera I dont think that would work. If its something a bit more bulky it might.
If it were me I would use precision cartridge bearings on the X and Y axis like this

The rod ends without the plastic liner have very little friction IME.
