Help with midi convertion

Anyone know how to convert from midi to general midi. I got no experience with it and my mum has a keyboard that they have got files for but in the wrong format.

Well that's a bit random, but maybe I can help.

There are two file types, 0 and 1.

I would personally open them up in Sonar then save to the correct format.
Other editing programs are available, but that's the one I work with.

What format are they in ?
