Indicated 155mph in Lotus Elan SE (then with 220bhp) driving from Monaco to Italy about 2am nothing on the road. 2 up in car, roof down, not quite
flat out (but probably nothing left). The only car we passed in 1 hour's drive was our mates, about 6 piled into a small Fiat. We stayed at the
coffee bar in Monaco for a couple of extra espressos, passed our mates on the autostrada doing about 3 times their speed, then were well into our
third beer by the time they all turned up. One of the mates was a carabiniero (one of the 4 kinds of Italian police), so in typically Italian way he
would have sorted everything out if we'd been done. But this was in August and the police go on holiday en masse in Italy for that month. Really
(everyone does).

I've manage to get the speedo toread 140 in my Seat Leon Cupra TDi. This was down a long and very private hill, btu I'm not sure what the
accuracy is.

I've been 130mph downhill in a MINI Cooper (120bhp) with 3 of us in the car which has an official topspeed of 124mph. Scared the living
daylights out of the audi RS4 we we overtaking. But what do you expect, it was Tim Harvey's older brother driving.

Just over 140mph in my T5 Volvo on an autobahn a couple of months ago - felt solid as a rock - had my mum in the car and she didn't even
flinch!
In the UK never go much above 85mph as it's just not worth it - get my jollies on the track.

very fast on a busa,
and fast in a m8s m3,the busa felt smoother and was easyer to keep in a straight line at high speed than the m3 was.
if your used to driving at high speeds then its not scary ,but the diffarence between 150 and 185 is like another warpfacter

I've never had a car with much of a top end, or access to one on suitable private roads, so can't add to these tales of derring-do.
I allegedly hit 102 mph in a 25 mph zone once. Or, ah, it would have been a 25 zone were it not a private road

i got over 140 in a 406 v6 auto, by the speedo. very refined even at that speed, but the wind is a bit much for it - the bumper started to hum.
i was once with an (ex)mate who did 120 in a 30 zone, at 2am. Scared the turd out of me big time. imagine someone pulling in front of you at that
speed
i doubt i will exceed 90 again, havent passed 100 in ages now. As jasper says, theres no point. i already have 6 points and am (allegedly) swerving 6
more... plus i dont own a car that goes faster than 85 anyway!

I feel ashamed of my 120mph, in my 405 td.
But i did keep it up for over an hour on the M74 out of Glasgow toward Carlisle, and did the journey from St Andrews to Salisbury in a whisker over 6
hrs.( wife was in Labour).

Should have qualified my earlier remarks lest I come off as a madman, barreling around on city streets or in a hospital zone...
It was a wooded parklike area in a ravine, with no access from either side. Twisty in some areas with a few straights, four narrow lanes wide, and
very familiar to me as I drove it at least twice per day. The event transpired at 3 AM on a weeknight and not a soul was seen.
Really a fun drive, but I've grown up since then (about 25 years ago) and wouldn't do it again. Wasn't especially unsafe except to
my license!

About ten years ago we built a class 9 V8 Land rover special which I navigated for my friend in comp safaris, all in the north of England.Geared for
106mph flat out which we did regular,ON FOREST TRACKS!ten feet wide with trees everywhere!
IN A DREAM! I did 148mph riding pillion on mates X-UP Yamaha, that was terrifying.
In another dream last week did 155 mph in mates 2yo Porsche 911 superb handling and brakes
Also in another dream did 152 in a Celica supra as a passenger, very quiet and smooth.
Did an estimated 112 mph through Craner curves as a passenger with someone a couple of years back at Donnington in an Indy Blackbird!
At the same time my Mrs went round Donnington with MK in the original demo blade car(109mph through the Craner curves)she got out and said it
didn't seem that fast!!!!
Only been to Germany once so I cant claim that one, strange dreams I've had though!!
Once I've finished a project why do I start another?

Indicated 165mph+ (i backed off then looked at speedo) in a chipped Sapphire Cosworth on the M4 on a Sunday afternoon. Was very silly at the time and
i certainly wont do it again on the roads
Sold the car a month later!
Must be 7 years ago i think.
