London Marathon 2013

Anyone else on here running the London Marathon next Sunday?

I've been training for a year and have managed to run 730 miles further than I drove the Velocity last summer! I've lost 8kgs in weight, had countless blisters and worn through 2 pairs of trainers in the process.

I'm running for my local hospice (St Catherine's, Crawley) and have raised over £1,300 for them. For those that know me, if you'd like to sponsor my run please visit my JustGiving page: Linky

Keeping my fingers crossed that its not too hot and I can get near to 4 hours.

me........

training for a year eh??? good effort getting to the start line after all that mileage without falling apart

just 6months training for me.................saying that I completed my first Ironman before I started training for London.

I'm getting paranoid about picking up the sniffles before Sunday, everyone I've had contact with this week seemingly coughing or spluttering over me............

Best of luck

Race no - 23323

Best of luck to you as well. The thought of doing an Ironman scares me....I'll stick to marathons

I managed to get the sniffles on Friday. The good news is they should be gone by Sunday.

Looks like it might not be too hot - currently predicted as 14c which is nice. I ran in 2007 which was the hottest race day so far.....it wasn't nice.

Did you get in via the ballot or a charity place? I assume the latter given your race number - mine is 3524.

small world........

first time for me was in 2007, phew was it hot..............racked up to the line completley overtrained with a groin strain, quick glug of Lucozade and 800mg Ibuprofen and off I went (never read that in all the training blurb I trawled through).
Mile 23 and the painkillers wore off, not long after I hit the wall, stumbled across the line in 3:48. Wanna go sub 3:20 this year, and 3:15 if poss to qualify good for age next year.

Managed to get a raffle place with my Athletics club...........was hoping to make the ballot after 5years being knocked back but completely forgot to enter..DOH!!!

Just hope I can get warmed up though................ running a marathon after not having rode 112miles and swam 2.1miles to get to the start line is worrying me a bit

Currently trawling the web on miracle cures to prevent the onset of a cold........this scratchy thoat is starting to get worse
