Mobile phone masts
Any one here work with them?
I am having issues with one very close to my house - about 50m away.
When it is working I have a full strength signal but usually in the afternoon until about midnight it just stops completely. No signal, no operator
logo, nothing. This also happens with my Mums phone on the same network at the same times so it isn't just me. the phones can see other networks
but obviously can't register with them.
I have been through all the troubleshooting stuff with the provider and established that it is a fault with the mast.
This has been going on for nearly 3 weeks - why does it take them so long to fix this stuff? Is it that the kit is very complicated or flaky? or do
they not have the staff?
Or do they just not care?
Cheers

Tried your sim in another phone (preferably an unlocked phone, or one that is locked to your operator)?
Check your end first, as its relatively easy to do.
If it happens with a different phone, I would definately report it as a fault.
The operators diagnostics on these base stations should show up to the operator if there is a fault.
However, that is not always the case.
I am a radio Ham, and I live on top of a Hill, which should be excellent for receiving Radio signals.
I get great reception on the Ham Bands. However my Mobile signal is almost non existent and I live 1Km from the nearest base station at the same
elevation.
My problem is I can hear SO MANY base stations the resultant signals are cancelling each other out. Namely my reciever is being deafened by multiple
signals from multiple base stations. Hence I get almost no decodeable signal at all.
This may not be the case for you. But Mobile signals are funny thngs operating on bands that are sjubect to a lot of weird effects of the atmosphere,
local buildings, obstructions, and reflections from anything from trees to the clouds.
Monitor it, write it down when it works and when it doesnt, when it goes and then comes back.
Once you have a couple of pages of logged data with dates time etc etc etc. Present that to the operator. It might be enough for them to act. It may
also give them evidence and pointers of what / where the problem is. Especially if its intermittent, which are the hardest faults to find.
Good luck with your quest.

The more of you that complain about the same fault increases your chances of getting it fixed.

Nope, afraid not
Slovak tipples are kicking in!
Im too much like you - from an era where hi-tec meant 4 channels and a screen you pull over the TV to make it look like a dodgy piece of furniture.
God knows why a mast 50m away cannot give you a good signal yet you can engage in pointless text type messages from one side of Europe to the other,
maybe you expect too much!
Good luck with it. Perhaps you should be busy in garage so you don't have to worry about communication.
