FedEx & Canadian Customs

Anyone know anything about the above?

I sent a guy in Canada some E Type parts, they were a swap for some parts he sent me.

I valued them at £225 on both the customs form, and paid extra for insurance up to £225, as it was not a sale as such I put gift.

I've just received an email from Parcel2Go from FedEx, asking what the real reason for sending the parts as $60 is max for a gift, and an inventory of what was in the package and the value of each bit. I've filled their form in and sent it back, after checking it was a legitimate request.

Anyone have any Idea what they are after? if they want import duty then that's the receivers responsibility, I haven't under valued anything.

They have delivered the item, and now say they are completing the paper work, I suspect someone has cocked up and delivered before duties were requested / paid.

Just don't want customs on my back....

It's not a gift if you are receiving goods in return. They probably noticed the value was too high to be a gift and now want the duties paying.
