cosworth bearings
hey there everybody, im stuck at the moment,
i have in my possession the front uprights from a 2WD cosworth, and the rear axle off of a 4WD cosworth, i dont know what year they are from
unfortunately, i want to replace the bearings in all four hubs as a matter of precaution, as i am building a kit car with there parts. can anybody
tell what bearings i need for each wheel and where i can purchase them from? ive heard that the front bearings are different from the back and left
from right, am i correct, all help is gladly welcomed

I bought a pair of Cosworth rear bearings a while ago for my XR4X4 hubs which I have yet to fit.....I was told that they were the same, if this is not
the case I'd be happy to swap my cossie bearings for 4X4 ones.

what xr4x4 have you got? what year is it?
just checked - xr4x4 use the same bearings as the cosworth
where did you get them from? the left bearing is different from the right bearing isnt it?

I THINK the bearings are same its the hub nut that comes with them that is handed.

If you've got the diffrential from the same car as the rear hubs i think it has the year on the id tag on the backplate of the diff.
As for the rear bearings i got mine (for a 4x4 cosworth 1993) from halfords they were clearance items £40 down to £10 each, the left and right were
the same, in each box there were the 2 tapered bearings 2 seals a sachet of grease and a left and right hand thread nyloc so that it could be used on
either side, looking at the receipt they had a part no. of 623876.
Dont know about the fronts as i've got cortina hubs.

yeah, i think that is right, the right hand side (offside) does up to the right, clockwise and the left (nearside) does up to the left
(anti-clockwise)
ive got 1991 rear axle off a cosworth 4x4

Alex.
Get the serial numbers off the old bearings, then check the web for bearing manufacturers such as Timken, Skefco, etc. They usually list equivalent
numbers for other manufacturers.
You may find them a lot cheaper than a certain motor factor.

Sorry for the delay replying, lost the server last night, I blame the weather
I got my bearings from Ebay, the downside is that they didn't come with nuts and as I butchered the old ones off I'm still looking for a
set.

Timken part numbers for Sierra RS cosworth are (according to the Timken 1996 Automotive application catalogue):
Front - JL69345/310Z
Rear - XKA32008XF/Y32008XZ

Got some of the notched ones, can't remember if they are RH or LH ones! (think they are LH thread)
