Looking for recommendations, having borrowed a friends "navman" and been pretty impressed with it for the price £160 from tescos at the
time, now £200 what does anyone recommend at the budget end of the market ?

Practically anything with the Navman badge is fine. I'm not sure which model you tried but I would recommend the iCN510 which is a mid range
one, or the budget iCN320 which is entry level but still very competent.
You could always go the software route if you have a PDA - TomTom would be my choice in that case.

Not wanting to go off tread here but
just been on to PocketGPS site this morning to get my Speed camera POI update for my PDA and Tom Tom.
When did they start charging ? anybody found a ('Copy' ? of the files as I am a tight Northerner

Hi, it was the 510, I've looked at the 320 but the screen looks a tad small.

I've borrowed an Aldi one a couple of times, can't fault it. Not as
cheap as the £160 Navman but worked kin well for £220.

I'd recommend the Tomtom One if you can get one for the right price. It has a very sensitive GPS receivers so you tend not to get drops outs
when in heavy tree cover etc. which some of the units can suffer with. I can even pick up a signal indoors away from the windows! Nice touch screen
interface and generaly relaible routing, pull post code look up, and can add speed camera database etc.
The Garmin I3 is a lovely little unit for the money, but suffers a little from not having a touch screen. All input is via a scroll wheel, which is a
lot better than you might think, but not as good as the Tomtom's touch screen.

There's an offer on TomToms in Halfords at the moment. Might be worth a look.
Have a feeling it was on the TomTom 700.

Ive had the TomTom Go 300 since November and used it a lot since. Very good. No problems. Highly recommended budget unit. Extremely easy to use. Big
display. Nice touch screen.

Well, just used the 510 on a 400 mile round trip which included central London and the dreaded congestion charge, Trafalgar square, Westminster the
works, it never missed a beat, so much so Ive just bought a 6 month old navman 520 off ebay for £175, looking forward too playing with it.
