Boiler problem....

Does anyone have an answer to this question?

I have a Myson gas back boiler which is set to come on early morning and late afternoon as normal. On getting back from work in the afternoon, the boiler has fired up fine - radiators are nice and toasty etc., but it doesn't come on in the morning unless I turn the boiler 'stat to off and back on again!

Does the boiler have a frost stat of sorts that I'll be resetting when I switch it off, and if so, where is it and can it be adjusted?

Otherwise, does anyone have any other suggestions except for keeping it running 24 hours (which the it works fine, I might add!)?

Ta....

Sounds like a timer/state issue, ask gasgasgas later

Nope, the timer is fine otherwise it wouldn't come on in the afternoon!

I've just found out that by turning the boiler stat off and then back on does reset it, so it's locking out for some reason....

It looks to be similar to a Myson Housewarmer 45 Electronic back boiler.

I had exactly the same problem with my glow worm boiler. It would'nt come on in the mornings without turning the boiler stat off then on again.
I traced the fault to the fact that the boiler has no pilot light.
it ignites itself every time heat is called for by one of the stats.(Piezo ignition)
What was happening was that the ignition electrode was tracking to earth through its ceramic insulation, rather than through its electrode tip.
This meant that the boiler DID try to ignite in the mornings, but after 6 or so attempts the boiler gives in a just leaves the fan running.
My theory is this.
The electrode ceramic material gets damp overnight. Boiler trys to start but cant, however the fan stays on forcing air through boiler. Then, when you turn the stat on & off some time later, the air flow through the boiler has dried the ceramic to a sufficient extent to allow it to light.
Once it has been lit once of course, the boiler flame dries the ceramic to the point that its fine for the rest of the day!
Next morning after the heat has been off for 8 or so hours the problem starts again.
solution?.... new igntion electrode

Cheers Paul, that sounds feasible! For the time being I think I might leave it on continuously through the night, but set it to '1' before I go to bed and turn it back up when I get up. At least then it should keep some warmth in the electrode! I can still happily keep it off during the day as usual to help keep Powergen's profits down....

My only fear now is that it's obsolete! I'll have a peek tonight to try and find a model number....

Thanks again!

Right, this old chestnut is still ongoing! I replaced the electrode yesterday and the problem still exists.

The boiler is a Myson Housewarmer Super Deluxe(!), model no. 447 8925.

There's nothing to it so I'm starting to scratch my heed! I'm going to have another look at it tomorrow, but if anyone has any other suggestions then do please let me know!
