Most annoying roadworks.........

I'll start it off..........

J29, M1 north bound exit slip.........

They have been at it for weeks now and almost finished but.............

1, We have had weeks of 2, 3 & 4 mile q's at busy times as they cone the roundabout off too one lane but have done absolutely zero work on the roundabout.

2, They put temporary lights on the roundabout that where phased in such a way all they did was add too the congestion, they clogged up the roundabout solid making all the roads feeding onto it back up as no one had anywhere where too go.

3, After digging up the slip road, a very busy two lane one I thought well maybe it will be worth it if when they have finished we have three lanes on it, (I thought that was what they was doing)

4, No, after weeks of congestion its all as it was, two lanes on the slip road meaning people will still have too Q on the M1 and hard shoulder too get off, trembling and looking in the morrows till several others are behind you protecting you from the inevitable rear ender from 40 ton arctic.

What a waste of money, there have been several minor injury accidents in the congestion and god knows how many road rage incidents, all avoidable if they had planned and phased the lights and work's better and kept the two lanes of the roundabout open, they coned off the inside lane and never went near it.

Another one, guess you need local knowledge but Tescos roundabout in chesterfield, an accident waiting too happen, what idiot painted the lines on the road that lets 3 lanes of traffic Q at a red light then two of the lanes suddenly disappear leaving it a free for all, locals get round it ok, but any 1st timers round it need a local either side of them too guide them thru or its game over. I went round with other half other day, she cut someone up on there but didnt even know, it wasn't bad driving, it was bad road planning.

Bleat over...... there must be more out there.

thats the worst one for me, disappearing lanes on roundabouts. Lawnswood on the leeds ringroad, theres 3 lanes into town, only two on the exit, you're in the middle lane in a sandwich. Same under the M62 by the showcase. Theres some incompetent twats in charge of line painting.

Poole Lifting Bridge.

A very busy lifting bridge in the centre of Poole right next to the entrance to the frieght and passanger harbour.

This will be closed tomorrow due to strike action (obviously a walk out strike as there have been no warnings of the bridge being out of action)

Now considering Poole is a tourist destination and with the ferries across to france also busy because of tourists heading to the continent.... when do you think the local counsel have desided to close the bridge for 3 days? middle of winter when there are no tourists? ...

... Nope..... the 3 days following the easter holidays when everyone and his uncle are on the roads. PLEBS!!!!

Who the f**K tightened this up!

I've got a good one, roadworks, narrow lanes one tha3 at guildford, right on the feed of a dodgy slip as it is - i thought they were putting in an extra lane, but no, they are cutting down the trees and hedgerows to put in a fence to keep the noise down for the locals. Now visibility will be even worse and I bet the locals don't notice any difference in the noise (and if they bought a house right next to a dual carriageway you kinda gotta expect noise anyways haven't you?

Ned.

beware, I've got yellow skin
