lost pasport

ok, so i'm going on holiday in 4 weeks and i can't find the little red book. Missplaced in a house move suspected, but can'y be sure

i know applying for a new one can take as little as 2 weeks but what about a replacement for a lost one, how long do they take to come back

I don't know what to do I may be able to find it but don't know how long to leave before cancelling the old one

If you've got the time you can get one issued in a day.

If you explain it to the passport office you should be fine

as said pay for the express service, get your forms and photos and go into the passport office in person and they can do it same day or within a week. i had to do this a couple of years back.

Ned.

just been on the passport service website, can't get a replacement on sameday, but there is a special 1 week replacement service for urgent cases.

So i have a couple of days where i can look for it before doing the above

Calvin,

You can do the same in England.
I've had to do it, it's painful but it can be done in a day.

In agreement with what someone said in the 'don't you just hate it when' thread, the best way to find it is to apply for another one!

I almost did this a while ago. Was actually looking in a drawer for a pen to fill in the form when I found it!

My passport is due for renewal in 2008 so to avoid the new ID card stuff I will probably "lose" mine next year
