Adrian Flux Insurance

After a lot of phoning about I decided to go with adrian Flux because of price and recommendation.
When I applied for the policy I specifically asked what would happen if i didn;t pass my SVA within 30 days. - They were non commital syaing that most people can provide a registation with in 30 days, they suggested starting cover morning of SVA to gain more time. When I asked about a refund they took along time to mumble that it be available.. But again non commital

I took out a policy with these company in June starting the day of my SVA.

They subsequently canclled my policy 30 Days later because the vehicle hadn't Passed it's SVA.

Policy cost £258 Pounds

After speaking to them, they said that a company called NIG insisted it was cancelled.

Due to terms of policy which was a no refund policy - no refund

After heated discussions with Adrian Flux I eventually got a letter saying if I restarted the Policy with NIG, NIG would refund 163.00.

So for 30 days insurance it has cost me £95

So phoning to day to restart I found out that not only do I have to reinsure with Adrian FLux but I have to USE NIG or I will loose the £163.00 as well. Worse than that NIG are slow at paying refunds to Adrian Flux so I have to pay £94.94 and if NIG fail to refund Adrian Flux will persue me for the difference (or just cancel the policy again!)

---------
Original SVA 29th June
Restest 2nd August
Second restest - 28th Sept

Up here is Scotland it is so hard to get a retest approximate wait time can be anything form 14days to 8 wks( 16 th august or 28th sept was the two dates I was offered). So building in time for doing work and working away and summer holidays. There is no way to meet NIG's 30 Day Policy. Even the 2nd of Augustwas the "first available" appointment.

SO BEWARE

Scot's do it better in Kilts.

that don't sound right, guessing NIG is [something] Insurance Group or are the parent company or underwriters.

maybe worth speaking to the CAB or making a formal copmlaint and if necessary taking it to the ombudsman.

I wouldn't be having that, CAB hopefully will be able to advise in first instance, also worth checking trading standards?!

best of luck with it.

Ned.

ps if it gets that far shortie has a contact at an insurance ombudsman so might be able to help.

AF were very clear to me on their 30 day rules, ie no Plate, no money back.
Their quote was too good for me to turn down though, so I risked it!.

Adrian Flux were fine with me and extended the 30 days for another week no problem.

To be honest looking at your dates it has been 90 days before registration so it's actually quite a long time and there's no way they could have extended it that long.

Did you ring them and ask for an extension???

Rich.

Thats total balls! I'm insured (through MSM) with NIG - at least thats who signed off my temporary cover notes and proper one. I just received a temporary cover note for 21 days at a time....and then another one after 21 days (again NIG) after I hadn't passed SVA....then another 21 days later when I STILL hadn't passed, this time accompanied by a letter saying that they really needed a reg no. soon......and then another one 21 days later saying "awaiting urgent notification of reg number". I've never, ever liked Adrian Flux they're always total arses to deal with on the phone and I've yet to hear a good thing said about them. Nor are they the cheapest that title generally goes to Footman James though MSM in my limited experience have been the nicest company to deal with. They always return a phone call, remember peoples names and their cars and seem to genuinly want to help and work for you...top notch every company should take a leaf from their book! Think you should get on to Ombudsman with A/Flux, if its good enough for one company it should happen with them all....PS I've still got my temporary notes insured on chassis number if you want copies as evidence of cover for more than 30 days.....Oli.

Mark, not everyone has or has access to a trailer. It can be very expensive if you need to hire and it puts everything back. I know I couldn't wait to get it on the road so much so that I wanted to be able to drive it as soon as it passed SVA. By having it inspected (DVLA) and insured before SVA all you need to do is rock up with your MAC and your cheque book and they'll give you a disc and plates there and then....worked for me anyway and I got to drive it to SVA in the rain - tres fun on slippy r/abouts! Oli.

This is standard practice, I had the same issue, but cancelled the policy within the first 2 weeks as I realised there was no way I'd get reg in time. Reinstated the policy 6 weeks later, totall cost aroud £40 for 2 weeks insurance. Nitram had the smae problem with Flux too.

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

I had build insurance with Adrian Flux which cost £40 per year, the upgrade to road risk for the SVA was £27 for 2 days. luckily I passed and the conversion to comp road risk for the remaining 2 months of the policy cost me another £42.

The next 12 months comp insurance cost me £182 and the renewal this year was £175.

I cannot recommend Adrian Flux any higher.

My policy is underwritten by Equity Red Star, so it may be your underwriters are to blame? NIG is wholly owned bt Churchill which is wholly owned bt Directline, which is wholly owned by Royal Bank Of Scotland.

Funilly enough mine is via Equity Red Star so maybe it is the actual insurers as I had no probs at all.

If you do want to take it via the Ombudsman then let me know and I will let you know all the details of what to do.

Rich.

The insurers fear the ombudsman as the get charged £300+vat for every complaint whether upheld or not

I've just had a renewal notice from AF - they're still the cheapest by far, but I do admit to being a BBOF* and totally proud of it!

You must be getting old - you need glasses!

I've had a beard since I was 17. I decided that standing in front of a mirror and dragging a razor across my face every morning for the rest of my life was a bl**dy stupid way to start a day!

Had same problem with Adrian F**ks, but did get a refund, after threatening to take them to the ombudsman. If you read there documentation carefuly, it say's on one bit that you will get a refund, (cant now remember which form), but used that as a lever. Reinsured with FJ, less cost, no restrictions. What I totally dislike about AF is that they will give you a quote, and then reduce it, if you ring and say you have had a cheaper one elsewhere, why couldn't they give you their best quote in the first place?. Also I think that the company that they deal with is Scandia, not NIG, mind you may be one and the same outfit. Rant, rant, f*****g lousey insurance company. Grrrrr! Regards Ray
