what are you trying to push it back in with? g clamp or a proper tool works best and if you have abs then clamp the pipe and crack the bleed nipple
to stop pushing fluid back the wrong way as some abs systems dont like this

I find a large pair of slip jaw grips works well , also known as water pump grips? Good for removing oil filters as well

Thats what i use.
As said above. Clamp the hose and slacken the bleed nipple, when u squeeze it back. U might wanna put a pipe on the nipple or itl make a mess.

The only time I have come across wind back type pistons on front brakes is when the parking brake operates on the front wheels ie Citroen and some

Did my Golf disks and pads all round the other day, ditto on the slip jaw grips. The backs need to be wound if you end up doing them.
