Any Audi people out there...

I've had a quick research but not found a definitive answer, but I know a place wher I will.

After the demise of my truck, i'm looking for another motor.
I like big cars, Bigger the better.
So i'm having a strong leaning towards the big Audis.

Now the A8's are ally bodied, but I seem to recall reading somewhere about ally A6's.
Can anyone clarify this. Is it just the RS6's or S6's or none of the above.

Really fancy the 4.2 A8 Quattro

BTW i'm not about to spend 65K on a car, we're talking around a 10 year old model, hence the question about ally bodywork.

Many thanks in advance

John

I think the later model A6 was ali, as are the current A4's (I think). Not sure when they phased it in for the A6 though.

Get a 2.5 TDi A6 - can't beat it for quality per £

There is just the car for you in this months PPC Mag a V8 version with 68k on the clock.

I love audis had a few and you cant go wrong..... this is my last beast..

as he said above ££ for ££ you are better off with a TDi, wouldnt waste ya time on a 2.5TDi thought i had the 1.9Tdi Quattro with a chip and was 195Bhp and 370nm just got to watch that back end in the snow when the turbo spools up.

This won't answer your question, but I've got an A4 Quattro 3.0 litre diesel. It's a fantastic car across country and around town - the best I've ever had! It's also a great tow car.

Go for it!

Friend of mines father has an A8, reckons it's the worst car he's ever had. Had it since quite new (if not new)!!!.

If you want a good, solid car that's comfortabl;e with plenty of power, I've just bought a Volvo S60 D5 and can't recomend it enough - 165bhp diesel, faster than the petrol turbo version of the same car, loads of spec, 45mpg on the motorway - fantastic car and I got my 53 plater for £8k.

Yeah, Volvo is a possibility, they do seem to go cheap, at auction last a Thursday a 51 plate T4 sold for £1450 and it was a real clean execs car.

Curious, not read a bad report on them, the V8's 280-330bhp, 4wd, and all the toys you could ask for, general consensus is they are a better choice to the Jags and BMW 7's.....Does he want to sell it

Off topic, but there was a post a week or so ago about hi milage cars. I borrowed an old Merc yesterday to go to peterborough passport office. 16 year old 300TD with 335,000 miles on it. It drove perfectly, no smoke, plenty of power. Amazing considering over 1/3rd of a million miles.

Any more big car recommendations gratefully recieved.

Friends dad got his supercharged ZT back last week, and is already talking about more power. I think the problem is that the ride is so refined that even 400bhp doesn't *feel* hugely quick, he just reckons all the roads have got a lot shorter
