Trace the owner of a car?

Can anyone here trace the owner of a car if I supply the registration?

edit to add the question mark in the subject

Normally a closely guarded secret by the Police National Computer (PNC). Users have to be certified to use it - using it for anything else other than a legitimate check is a criminal offence. My police friend told me so.

if its for a legitimate reason, i.e they crashed into you and drove off, you can obtain the info from the DVLA for a small charge (£2.50 last year)

Fuckers!

Really sorry to hear about your accident, but glad you are OK and the majority of the car came out intact.

I don't care how minor a shunt it is, I will always call the police if they don't have photographic ID on them. You hear too many people getting caught like this. I had a kid drive into the back of my company car a few years ago. I made him show me his credit cards and drivers licence (copied down all the details). No way was he getting away with it. I even took his photo on my mobile. Turns out he was driving his mums car, and he paid in cash up front for the repairs.

But my wife is a more trusting soul. She got hit at a round about, and just took the guys name and address from him. Luckily the details turned out to be genuine but it could so easily have been false.

Anyway I sincerely hope you get sorted OK.

Mike

car dumped... that implies nicked unless it is worthless. Even if he was uninsured he could've gotten away with a cash settlement and kept his car.

Explains why he was so apologetic at the scene, obviously trying to keep a low profile.

Good luck mate. I can probably get a pair of crap front wings made real cheap, functional but not a perfect mould.
