quote "Merseyside Police insisted the car was not theirs. Other forces claimed the same or said they couldn't be sure. "
no surprise there then.

And the police wonder why they have no respect!!

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find that they DO know who it was, and have already given him/her a right royal bollocking.
BT had a similar official response when a hercules transport plane flew very low over their research labs at Martlesham, Ipswich - the people in the
highest building looked down on the plane! The official RAF response was "did you get the plane's number?" - as if they
didn't know where one of their transport planes was at any time! A little later the word was put around unofficially that that pilot had been
disciplined and grounded for quite a while...

its hard to decide if its a clever idea to engage with the kids (and maybe demonstrate that taking a chase isnt a good idea) or if its just going to
encourage the kids to nick a car and try it themselves!
Better the kids be in awe of the police than hate them i guess...
What sort of officer would be driving a 5 series car though? Doesnt seem the vehicle of a normal traffic cop.

When I was at primary school, we always had a week where all the emergency services would come and demo stuff - always good when the head got to be
demo-bitch for the alsations!
It works to engage the yoofs as, instead of always being wary of the police, they can recall some good memories.
It also helps the cops to remember that not every kid is up to no good, they're all good kids, just with nothing better to do.
I'd also reckon the viewers were at a safer difference than the video suggests - camera's have a hbit of doind that.

I think that you will find that its a Vauxhall Omega or more probably and Elite (bigger engine & more toys).
I'm fairly sure that if they wanted to they could clean up the image to read the number on the top of the car and hence the nominated driver for
that day, if neither officer detailed to that vehicle wished to admit to it then suspend both as both are equally guilty of offence, dangerous driving
on an area of public access.
Damn beaten to it by chris.

Seems quite simple to me or am I stupid???
You send the N.I.P to the transport manager of the police force involved and the onus is on him to supply the details of who was driving.
It's standard police procedure when issuing speeding fines. Its what makes this cuntry (not a sp error) great we all abide by the same rules

Well sorry, as much as I dislike Police, it proves they are human and I think they were just showing the kids that they can drive better than them.
Sure they should not have done it in the first place but if it lets youger people know what they are up against then surely our cars will be a little
safer when we go to bed?

Some Police drive some pretty special stuff - I remember my uncle telling me that Durham Constabulary trialled an XJ220 and they have a few
M5's on the books.
There's even a paramedic car in Durham that's a Lotus Elise - big county, lots of small villages, need to get the fast!

Nothing suprises me anymore what our countrys' law enforcement agency get up to. It suprises me even less what they get away with...
When will the less educated realise that there are two laws... one for the 'police' and one for the 'not police'... how many
times have we seen this sort of thing go unchecked? Honestly... you amaze me!

Is it me or has the text changed.
It now says it was filmed on an airfield and the spectators were police officers.
I'm sure it didn't say that first time I read it??
I used to be apathetic but now I just don't care.

No I believe your right cos when I read it the first time the constabulary's were denying all knowledge and association with it.
