the colour of the wiring can catch you out, since new wire is blue and brown. However, i believe that the new wire was available from jan 2004, and the part p stuff wasnt enforced until later that year (some say jan 05 but i was sure it was apr04), so if you say it was all done then, you are ok. If you need a length of red and black 6mm wire, give me a shout!
