VW Polo oil pressure warning faults
The wifes 51 plate polo has just had a new ECU as a result of flood damage.(repaired under insurance!) Now there is a fault with the oil warning light
coming on. the garage has been tinkering with this and now says the dash has to come out.
Is this correct and can anybody give me some pointers before I quiz them on this.
Many thanks

I dunno about yours but VWs of old (like my 89 Golf) had 2 oil pressure switches. I found out because I replaced a leaking one but was supplied with
the wrong one. They switch at different pressures at different revs & in different directions (one switch is normally closed & the other is
normally open). It caused some confusion till I worked it all out, & have heard of others being fooled into thinking it was something more serious
than a dodgy switch
We recently replaced an oil pressure switch on an old Caddy diesel & there were 4 options, all colour coded.
Worth checking out before you spend loadsa money anyway.

I replaced both the switches on my 91 Golf recently....
...turned out to be the pump!
Cheers,
