The cons are that Sky are a bunch of useless eeeeeeedjits, don't expect much from them if you need to speak to them at all. They're
actually worse than PlusNet, if you can believe such a thing After two whole months of me not having the internet due to Sky being totally unable
to activate my line from their end I finally snapped and told them to stick it, cancel the whole thing, and placed an order with NTL. Next day my
router turns up and it's mysteriously working, despite them telling me the day before that there was absolutely 100% nothing they could do, and
no one they could escalate me to, that could get the line working without cancelling the whole order (a 4th time) and starting from scratch (a 15
working day long process). Which is a shame as the phone line gets turned off next week... The really annoying thing is that the line has been fine,
every time Sky order it to be ceased and reprovisioned I can see it getting done within a day or two by my old router syncing (or not), but
Sky's system isn't talking to BT's, and Sky positively insist there's no way to manually update theirs (hence the whole cease
and re-order thing to see if it works next time around).
Oh, rumour has it that about 7000 of Sky's customers have had their service accidentally ceased recently...

I was tempted by the premium high speed package from Sky.
Went through the motions of signing up, only for Sky to contact me to say that there would be a delay.
Then they phoned to ask why I had not got the MAC code from my present ISP.
Lost all confidence in them . Can't afford to be without Broadband connection as I work from home a lot.
The thought of not being on line for months while they sort it out is no good to me, so have stayed put for the time being.
Cheers
Mike

I have emailed Sky asking why there are many subscribers to Broadband who are not happy with the product. I will be back...
I have stumbled across a website explaining how the Sky broadband movies works... you may (or may not) find the reading intruiging.

you've got me worried now, only reports I'd heard were good until a colleague told me of the probs with sky+ boxes as on watchdog and you
now telling the bb has issues! I'm getting sky+ on monday and the bb is ordered and they have my mac code.
now what should I expect?
Ned.

Absolutely nothing unless you phone them constantly to get an update and gee them along. In my experience they won't do a thing about any
problems that crop up at their end unless you're on the phone asking them what the latest delay is, and you certainly won't get any
contact from them to keep you up to date.
To be fair if they've accepted your mac code then it may well go fairly smoothly, half of the problems appear to be with customers like myself
who were LLU'd by their previous ISP and so can't be simply migrated.
If we don't hear from you for a while we know why at least

I've had a few probs with Sky+ boxes, ending up just get a MUCH bigger HDD for it (and only £70) and it's been fine since. Secondhand
boxes are quite cheap on Ebay and you can just put in your old HDD and you're off again - so it's never a huge deal.
Sky+ is bloody fantastic though - it really does totally change the way you watch tv - I'd find it hard to live without it now.
I've just signed up with Eclipse ISP - good reviews and real unlimited speed downloads at a good price....

Bearing in mind most exchanges can still only handle about 2.5meg down so you're not likely to see 16 for a long time, not even 8 for that
matter.

Down here in the glorious south most of the exhanges now have either MAX or someone's LLU so getting up to 8meg isn't a problem. Well, as
long as you're with the right ISP. And live within spitting distance of the exchange...

In my part of the glorious south, BT can only manage 1Meg connection with any reliability according to the 3rd BT engineer who came to check the
line quality this is due to penny pinching by BT in the quality of cables in our area ???

If you have a stable line Speed with ADSL2 LLU suppliers is exactly twice what you get with normal ADSL.
Be advertise 25mbs ADSL2 which is really taking the p*** what most actually get is 2 to about 12 depending on the distance, live right next door the
exchange like one of my clients and you might get 14 but you still have contention for bandwidth to deal with..
