Foreign truck driver!
I got caught up in a massive traffic jam on the A1 yesterday.
Set off from home at about 6.00am to go to Doncaster to start a new site off. Got to Leeming to find the A1 was shut. Queued for hours, finally got
onto the diversion route, (via some cracking roads!) and eventually ended up in Doncaster around 10.00am.
It cost me two hours, the three builders in the transit going to Doncaster 2 hours. It also cost two vans of decorators, two vans of floor layers and
two vans with electricians 2 hours (they were all going to a job in Leeds).
That's cost me 16 blokes sitting for 2 hours, 32 man hours, all so some Polish bloke can try to do a u-turn in the middle of the A1 and save
himself 5 minutes!!!
At least all my lads made it to site!
He injured 4 lads in a van, who hit the side of him and it looks like they won't be working for a while.

A local Taxi Driver where I live got hit by a foreign Lorry that jumped a red light. It took half an hour to cut him out and witnesses saw the lorry
driver jump out chack the damage, jump in and drive off. The police had all the details but said it wasnt worth trying to arrest/prosecute as the
company would not give details of who was driving!!

I hope the lorry driver gets prosecuted for that. Even in Poland that would be a crazy and extremely dangerous manouvre.
When i drive to Bristol im out on the roads at that sort of time. Being 2 lanes there isnt much escape space for most of the section unless you decide
to go low flying cross country to see the cows etc. Also with it being so dark at that time the van driver wouldnt have had much of a chance, the last
thing he would have expected to see would be a lorry all of a sudden broad siding the road.
Pure madness. And all so he didnt have to drive another 5 mins or so further down to take a slip road and roundabout.

The consequences of bad driving can be so scary sometimes.
I did a trauma course for work- saw the firebrigade video of an accident on the M1 (both directions closed for about 8 hours). Someone in a van
swerved in front of another van which was itself in front of a flatback carrying two Challenger tanks from the Gulf back up the M1...
Van swerves in front, immediately slams on the brake, lorry swerves, crashes into (and partially through) the central barrier, pitching the tanks into
the air and into the oncoming traffic.
Truly unbelievable... Truly scary! And all because probably the first van driver was angry after being held up by the Tank flatback.... Can still
remember the video of the Merc Sprinter which was normal up until the driver compartment was now about 10cm high after a Challenger bounced on it...
Unbelievable...

In which case the CEO should be held accountable and be up on the charges the driver would have faced.

The police have no excuse for not acting in a case like this. There must be a list of charges they could bring against the registered owner at the
least.
I'd be writing to my MP, and the chief constable, etc ...
Cheers
