They bolt down just infront of your seat normally. Depends how long the straps are, as the crotch straps arent usually adjustable.

Thanks David, they do look adjustable so would you bolt them trough the floor level with the front of the seat ?

Should be fine yes. As long as they dont rub on the edge of the seat (assuming its grp?). All they are for is to stop you submarining under the belt, so put them where they are comfortable/convinent.

Thanks for the advice David, but you've just put some horrible thoughts in my mind as i'm braking into the hairpin
I'll have to take the town halls into consideration when i'm fitting it

Ideally you need to fit them so they are tight up between your legs, this will mean cutting a hole in the seat for the straps to pass through. You dont want a gap between your town halls and the straps, 'cos if you do need to use the straps in anger you definatley dont want a run up at them!!!!

If you have GRP seats you will need to cut a hole in the seat, the only problem with that is depending where the hole has to be cut you may weaken the seat.

cheers

Paul

I was watching BTCC one day, and they had a camera on Jason Plato as he was getting into his harness. He put each of the crotch straps through a loop on the lap belt, then back to the buckle, effectively putting a strap on each side of his nuts rather than directly in front of them - seemed to be a far better idea!

Yup, that's the setup I've got on the Locost. 3" 6 point racing harness from Sabelt. The crutch straps come up through the hole in the seats (already in place on the Kirkey Prodrag), through the waist strap pulley and then get locked in place by the buckle on the shoulder
strap...
Only trouble is that they're adjustable to an extent but you have to take them off to do it... Luckily most people have similar size thighs......

Not sure I'd go for 3" next time. Although they are better in a crash (less chance of rib and clavicle fracture), the 2" belts are more comfy when you're actually driving... The wider straps rub a bit on shoulder / neck area. As I plan to do more driving than crashing I'd go for 2"... I had a 2" Sabelt (with normal push button release for SVA) harness before and it was pretty comfy... But each to their own...
