I used to run an Alfa 156 as a company car so didn't worry about the servicing costs but after about 12 months I had a knocking on the front
suspension so took it into the Alfa/Fiat garage in Bury St Edmunds and they diagnosed problems with the drop link and replaced them(so they said). I
then got the car back and it ran ok for a few weeks and I then changed my head office and started working in Ipswich, when the knocking noise started
again. Took it to the Ipswich dealer (interestingly with the same name but not connected) and was told that it was the drop links, I said ah but that
was done by the Bury dealer a couple of months ago, he phones the bury dealer to be told they had never touched them! As the car was supplied through
a lease company I just informed them and let them deal with it.
My wife also has a Citroen Zsara which keeps cutting out but the garage can never find anything wrong with it

We put one of our vans into the dealers for repair. The diff was noisey after 10k. They had it 2 months to put a diff in it. 1 week after we got it
back the rear brakes were binding on. Got it on the ramp and couldnt get the n/s/r wheel off because every bolt was cross threaded in the hub.
Finally got it off and the caliper was hangin off and had ground away at the hub/half shaft and wheel rim. Went to get the other side wheel off. Far
to tight. We had the servce manager come out to look and it took 350nm to undo the studs. they are 180nm to tighten. Turned out to be a polish
bloke they employ for sod all. Cost them a new rear axle and wheel rim.

Took my Porsche 944 in to get the air conditioning serviced. Went to collect it, and was pi**ed of when I found they'd dragged an air hose
across the hood a few times and scratched up the paint. Just wanted to get out of there, drove about 2 blocks and the engine blew up. They'd
had the airbox apart, and thought it looked like a handy tool & parts tray I suppose...left several high tensile bolts inside when they closed it
up. One of them went into #3 cylinder & destroyed it, pounded the valves shut, bent the rod, flat-spotted the crank, and sent metal grindings
through the oil system. Their insurance company said...get this...they only destoyed one cylinder, and they figured the engine was half-worn anyway,
so they'd pay up to 1/8 of the (parts only) cost for repair! Total bill = $7000...I threatened to sue, and got them up to $4000 of the
total.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? You took the car in to have the air-con serviced, not to have the engine 1/8th rebuilt! If it ran fine before the numpties decided
to destroy it for you, then it should come back to you running fine!!!! I'd have been spitting fire......
Spin 'er off Well...

In Leicester I've found some garages where I have been treated well. One of Shaftesbury Road that used to be known as "Teds Garage"
[1]. He retired a few years back but the guy who took over gets good reports.
There is also the classic garage off Scudamore Road. Normal prices but is honest.
And oddly the F1 International near B&Q. Considering its a chain type place I've been treated very well there. Prices are below average,
they have been very helpful and done just the work I said needed doing. The only time I've had it in for diagnois they fixed the actual problem
(one time both rear brake slave cylinders had failed at the same time, and the other, the zorts had developed a 3 foot feathery tail )
[1] He wasn't called Ted, something like Dave but where he first worked got called Ted as everyone else there was called Dave
