The Stig

...is Perry McCarthy, according to British Eurosport this morning.

He's one of the 3 drivers in the fastest Audi at Le Mans this weekend.

Bit of a comedian, as well!

David

Maybe they read it in Autocar this week - it was in there on Tuesday!

I shouldn't be surprised...

BTW: I've decided that I'll never waste my time watching B. Eurosport again. They have a habit of showing adverts at totally wrong times - this time it was at the end of the Le Mans Classic race. About 4 or 5 cars had crossed the line, there were a few cars dicing a few turns before the finish line, then... adverts for 5 minutes.

Last time, it was a superbike race - the first 5 riders were charging along two laps from the finish, swapping places all the way, then... adverts for 5 minutes.

Argh!

DJ

Interesting one this, as at the Snetterton 24 Hour Citroen 2CV race last weekend, Top Gears Stig was being promoted as driving!!!

Now, are the BBC doing another Mr Blobby and having a range of Stigs available for hire?

Then again, Perry's luck being as bad as it is could probably have made Snetterton after his car was out of LeMans after 30 laps.

As an aside, I can heartily recommend Perry's autobiography, Flat Out, Flat Broke, as one of the funniest books I have ever read.

I'm going to the filming of top gear tomorrow to be in the audience.
If anyone can give me links to a pic of Perry McCarthy, and in the unlikely event i see the stig I'll let you all know.

I went to the filming and saw johnny herbert hidden out the way and thought it might have been him as he wasnt involved with any other part of the program and seemed to be the right size.

But allas no it is Perry McCarthy...Doh wonder what johnny was doing there?
