Good luck!

Back in 1987 The weather guy, Michael Fish, said we were NOT going to get a hurricane!

We did, and this area was in the thick of it (south/south east) it was horrendous!..... I flew off from Gatwick the next day, the sight from the plane of the devastation below was unbelievable!

Lets hope this current severe gale warning will turn out to be a damp squib...

ROFLMAO

Nah, it was a 'business' trip! They wouldn't let me cancel, never mind half the house was in tatters etc etc, trees down all over the place, roads blocked etc, etc...

After all, said they, 'It wasn't a hurricane, Michael Fish said so'........

Luckily the job was 'wrapped up' double quick and I got back 4 days later......It really made no difference me being away, as I had to wait to get peeps in to repair....apparently they were extremely busy........

I remember it well.

All our roads were blocked with fallen trees.

The council is so slow round here that we had to wait for the wood to rot before we could get out.

Happy new year Fozzie

'Creating a habitat and encouragement of wild life'

For not removing most of the trees?

And a very Happy New Year to you and yours too, Paul.

I hope you lot do better than we did a couple of weeks ago - first hurricane in history (for this area) hit us...100 mph winds (+ gusts!), thousands of fallen trees, houses and cars crushed, 250,000 homes without power for up to a week or more (when, of course, the temperature dropped to below freezing...). We're on a well here, so no water, in addition to no heat, no light, no power, NO INTERNET!!!, etc. Good luck!!!

Either Addlestone has it's own wierd little weather system (to go with all the wierd little inhabitants) or i'm just walking about in a daze, I didn't even notice a breeze when I brought the bins in last night...

Probably the second, I didn't even wake up when a tree hit our block of flats in '87

Aha....did you speak too soon Rich?...
It was nice here this morning....... but erm a bit bad now.. well in KT12 anyway....

It seems as though it is just the south/south east left on 'red alert' at this moment.....

Glad all's well in the rest of the UK.....

Martyn, yes I think Addlestone is quite unique on the weather front.
A little earlier in the year, we had flash floods around here, dashed over to elderly parents who live in Addlestone to see how they were fairing, and not much rain (well, not of the same volume) to speak of at all!

ATB Fozzie .....whose hatches are still battend.....

I was supposed to be flying a light aircraft (cessna 180 i think ) the day after the big wind of 87,thought we would have a look at the damage.

Plane was on its head when we got to the airfield i've got a pic (photo) somewhere if i can find it i'll try and copy it,lots of aircraft were badly damaged in the south .

Not missing much the 180's like an old landrover with a blown head...

Try microlights their much more fun and cheaper. My old pegasus could climb at 45 deg's and land at just 30mph, less in head wind. Took a while to go anywhere but then I was in no rush to come down
