airport surcharges
gordo,s new tax came in on feb 1st,i booked a flight before that date from a foreign airport to luton and return with a foreign airline.
ive heard nowt from the airline about the surcharge soooooooooooo,does this only affect flights booked in this country or starting/finishing in this
wonderful country of ours?

Think it depends on which airline you're flying with. Easyjet were on the news saying they only make £3 per passenger, so had to pass on the
extra £5 charge.
Airlines like BA make considerably more than that, and so have allowed the extra £5 to come out of their profits, for now.

If you booked before the tax was announced in December in the pre-budget report, the airlines cannot force you to pay it - its illegal..!
They're keeping this bit quiet, and its only so they can keep thier profits up...!

i rang the airline....they speak English as well
prob sorted,if you booked after the announcement date the extra is included...its gone up to £93 return ,still cheap enough

If you're with BA, don't take more than 1 case after next Tuesday - long-haul economy passengers may end up paying £240 supplement!
Short-haul could be as much as £80.

do you know that is the case for sure, because I personally feel a bit PO'd by having to pay for something brought in AFTER I've
booked...
If it really is the case - do you know of anything official that I can quote to eliminate any ambiguity at the airport etc?
