Tip top Gearbox noise

Me tintop (gearbox maybe) has developed a noise and I can't pin point it.

Renault dCi (6 speed), engine sounds sweet on tickover and when revved. I seem to be getting an awful noise (a weird graty rattle) when in gear at low revs (i.e when there's the most vibration - any gear)

Sounds like it's coming from the gearbox, maybe driveshaft output, def from nearside anyhow. A good example is to put it in first and allow it to pull itself along at tickover, this is when it does it most. Goes away at cruise, also seems to be more apparent when it's done a few miles (i.e when gearbox oil is warm).

Not had chance to get it on the ramps today, but thing is I can only simulate the noise on the move. Anyone any ideas, has been drivin me nuts today.

Cheers

As in made of chocolate. Likely to fall apart at the first sign of anything at all.

Youve got me worried now. my transit connect does exactly the same when pulling under its own power in 1st or second gear. What would happen to it if left?

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Tis something that is just not right. praps if I filled the gearbox with really thick custard that might quieten it down!!

128k and rolling, will check mounts, but as it only does it when moving I'm more inclinded to susect gbox.

Had it in and out of gear, clutch in and out while stationary - no noise
