why not go for first generation series, also known as a map.

(or more seriously TOM TOM)

I bought a navman PiN 570 when they were on offer a while back, and as my first sat nav I've found it fantastic. Plus as a PDA i can use tom tom (though never have), memory map etc. So Navman get my vote, plus I think they've just upgraded their maps.
Regards
Matt

Not locost but a mio c710.
Does cameras but also free traffic updates. Helps avoid jams.
With tom tom you need a subscription plus wap on a blue tooth mobile phone for the traffic updates.

Recently got a Tom Tom one GB from Halfords via the net for £156, seems pretty good so far.

the difference between tomtom1 and tomtom3 is quite subtle. Anyone know exactly what it is? Something like different locations stored etc. Having used a tt3 id be disappointed if i got a t1 and realised it was missing key features.

However, i was very happy with the tomtom 3 i borrowed. Without having tried a few systems its impossible to compare them really, you would always be impressed with them if you hadnt tried a better one.

Im all for maps, never really have a problem, but sometime when im in other cities i need to get from one place to another by the best route, time is money. If i waste ten minutes by not picking the most efficient route it costs me. There no point me learning every city in yorkshire and id probably never beat a good satnav anyway!
