My worrying thought
If you saw the episode of 'best of top gear' tonight, you would have seen stig filling up a caterham twice on a four hundred and something
mile journey.
How big was the fuel tank? My worrying thought is that when i fit my 4 litre supercharged engine, my fuel consumption will probably be quite a bit
worse than the average pinto or bike engined car.
What is the biggest size fuel tank i could fit to a haynes roadster chassis or will it not be as bad as im thinking?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

I have a 35l tank above the diff so you could do that + one at the back about 25L  wow 60L you will need a big engine to pull that

To give you an idea - in my weeny 2.5 V6 (normally aspirated) I've got 25 litres in each side pod ......... I seem to be forever filling up

My Indy has a 5 gallon tank (about 23 litres), and turns in 20 mpg on a "day out", so I fill up every 100 miles or so!
I guess I could do better mpg if I went a bit slower
To be honest, 100 miles is a little over an hours driving time, and after an hour, you need to get out of the seat, stretch the legs, take a waz,
defrost the extremities etc etc.

Ive got approx 6 gallon tank, can get 140 - 150 miles out of it = takes me about an hour and a quarter to empty it. As Mike says on a run down
motorway or similar i fill up well before its empty to stretch legs and restore blood supply to twiddly end bits.
You soon learn to plan ahead.
