How long does it take to earn.?......

Just trying do a comparison of how far our moneys goes in different places...

So based on your gross earnings and your location how long does it take for you to earn?.......

A pint of beer in your local bar or pub?
A steak dinner for two?
A medium sized family car?
A 3 bedroom detached family house?

I'll start...

Beer....1.5 minutes (mondays) 3 minutes (other days)....yep very cheap bar..
Dinner...1 hour

House....2 years

my house is 6 ish years, which i thought was quite bad!

Being self employed there are no figures for the rest really, if im doing electrics the pint might take just over a minute, however when you are contracting for a bunch of tosspots who send you the wrong plan causing much heartache, it can take a whole lot longer!

Beer = 40 minutes
Dinner = 5.3 hrs
Car = 1.1 yrs
House = 7.5 yrs

Assuming middle management salary of R200 000 per yr or $28 000 or 15000 Pounds

Our bad exchange rate realy makes us suffer but is great for tourists.

On take home pay:

Beer = 15min (or 30min in some places in Edinburgh)
Dinner for 2 = 4 hours
Car = 9.5 months
House = 10.5 years

The house prices here are stupid

I do overtime too, but don't get paid for it

Steak dinner 63 minutes
Car 42 working days
House 772 working days

I hate living near London, things are stupidly expensive

Pint 1.5 mins
Dinner 45 mins
Car 3 months
House 3 years (by which time houses will have doubled in price again - so it's an ever increasing circle!)

Ok,

Thanks for this topic Alan - it makes for interesting comparison. This is in Brisbane, Australia.

Beer....11 minutes (pint of Guinness)
Dinner...1.5 hours (two courses & drinks)
Car....29 weeks (Mazda 6)
House....3.25 years (what we paid for it 5 years ago)
or 6.6 years (what booming property values make it worth today!)
