Dilemma!

What to do.....
Been offered a Sylva Phoenix, built by Jeremy Phillips for his personal transport in 1997. Fiat twin cam, 5 speed, BRG etc. for not much money.
It would mean selling the Locost though.
A very tough decision as I love my car!
Please help. I've always liked the Phoenix, but feel I may be 'selling out' to the mainstream.

HELP!!!

Sell yours, buy the Pheonix run for a couple of years, and start building a new locost

Thanks
Adrian

Well there are plenty more locosts in the world than Phoenix's so hardly selling out to the mainstream. It's not like you're ogling a tin-top.

Sounds like a nice example as well, pity you'd have to sell the locost though.

So the pragmatic answer is obviously to have both

If it were me I'd probably go for it, but you aren't me and having made your own car I can see it being a huge wrench to let it go.

I have to say, I would be tempted. I love my car but the phoenix is a very nice car.

the fact that your asking us looks to me like you really don't want to. Tell you what, sit on it for a couple of days and go for a nice long drive in your own car tomorrow, then asked yourself if a new car is what you want.

Hello Marcus

The problem with the mainstream cars.... when there on the road there on the road, the locost has the ability to change with add ons every winter which some of us enjoy.I know you have made some fantastic extras and add ons on your car, and i think you are pleased with the end product (even though there never is an end product)

The Phoenix is a very nice car if built properly, thats another point how good is it ( you will have to enlighten me on who is jeremy philips, sorry) and also have you driven one,it may not be you.

Think hard as to what you might do next with the locost, then think about what you might do with the Phoenix in the future.

Got another trip to the south of France planned for this year (September) so I'm going to seriously think about it. If I decide against it, the car will appear in the 'for sale' section in the next few weeks. The owner is in the States for 6 months, but the car is being stored at a friends place.

Go for it - at the very least, you could start to build a new locost.

If you always wanted a phoenix, then here is the perfect opportunity to go for it.

As I Phoenix builder and owner I'd have to say that they are not really mainstream as iank says there are more locosts than Phoenixes (never worked out what the plural should be) and certainly way more '7's than Phoenae - in fact I didn't want a '7' because there are lots about.

The Phoenix is a cracking car and handles fantastically well. Jeremy Phillips is very well regarded within the kit car world and his cars have always done well in the various race series.

I'm biased but i'd say get the phoenix - I've also never driven a locost.

just my 2p

Buy it Marcus, if it is what you've always wanted you will regret it if you don't.

worst case you build another locost further down the line and you can do all those things you would have done differently from the previous build(s)!

There will still be winter mods for the phoenix in one guise or another - these cars are never truly 'finished' are they

Ned.
