Locostbuilders Treasure hunt type rally ?
Years ago I organised a few of these, this post is too gauge interest......
The rally would be 100% not a speed event as it would take place on public roads.
Basically you would receive a set of clues, best done 2 up, your mileage would be logged at the start and off you go, probably finishing in a watering
hole.
Cars would set of at maybe 3-5 minute intervals, depending on numbers, take around 2 hours too complete, could be done in tin top don't have too
be a kit.
The winner would be the one with the most correct answers and the nearest too the correct mileage.
Would be based in and around the north Derbyshire, North Notts & South Yorks area on country roads, local knowledge would inevitably help but it
would be done in such a way all could take part.
Its for fun, does NOT involve speed or racing............
Whats the interest ? A small entry fee would be required too cover cheapo plastic trophy type thingys and of course a wooden spoon.

I'd be up for it Jon, sounds a good laugh, as long as it ends up in a pub at the end!

Me and my friend were looking at doing events like this.
Our idea was to have access points at variouse locations each competetor would have some sort of RFID enabled device which they scanned at each point
(following clues or the like) at the end making reports avalible through a website so you could see things like average speed.
Our ultimate goal was to look at using it as a marketing tool after cutting out teeth on small online 'Trasure Hunts' to perfect the
technonlogy.
Back on topic sounds like a real good idea

Look up 12 car rally and road rally on tinternet!!
John, I'd be well up for that, have had some fun on road rallies in the past, and always thought that doing it in a locost would be a good idea,
but they don't meet the MSA spec for road rally cars, so an unofficial treasure hunt type could be just the ticket............
now I need a brave nagivator!!
Retro RWD is the way forward...........automotive fabrication, car restoration, sheetmetal work, engine conversion
retro car restoration and tuning

Sounds good but it would be worthwhile in this day and age of nanny state to check the legal side of this kind of things to cover your back.

I here what your saying Chris and the truth is all knowledge of the event would be denied, bit like tunnel runs ect......
The event would not be speed related in any way shape or form, in fact getting back too early would cost points, its about a bit of fun and the odd
geezer turning the odd sign around......

My local club, Wessex Kit Cars, did a very good one in and around fordingbridge on the edge of the new forest. To prevent unfair advantages by those
with local knowledge, we were given a map and directions to each area, a clue or riddle to solve to identify where to look and a question to answer.
Everyon had a great time, there was no reason to speed as it was more about solving the puzzles and you needed the time it took driving to come up
with answers.... all in all great fun... unfortunately being Poole in Dorset it's a bit far to come in a tin top. If I had the Aeon ready it
would just be an excuse for a short drive

Probably best to not plan it in too much detail on a public forum then

Done one or two of these, absolutely no law against providing clues are placed with landowner's consent or in a public place that will not cause
annoyance to other members of the public. Get signed waivers from competitors best written by a lawyer!
Will join in if I have car done and not away on business.

PS the last wooden spoon I got is pretty worn so I could use another
