Well done Russbost

Nice item on the Furore in totalkitcar's news section.

http://www.totalkitcar.com/news.php

Though you might want to get them to fix the url (fixed below) as it's missing a dot and doesn't work.

quote:

Work is continuing apace on the new Furore F1………and for those not familiar with the car, it’s a roadgoing modern F1 lookalike – complete with passenger seat! Chassis kits are now available, and a basic chassis pack complete with wishbones and rear uprights costs just £2200. A more complete chassis kit with virtually everything not supplied by the donor Toyota MR2 Mk1 to get you to a rolling chassis stage is available for £3250, however a discount of £500 is being offered to the first FIVE customers of the full chassis pack, making it just £2750. At the time of writing two of these discounted packs already had deposits taken so if you want one you’ll need to be quick! Prices for body panels have yet to be finalised, but are expected to be in the region of £2500. Furore Cars are also now offering a range of coloured stainless steel braided flexy brake hoses, and these can be ordered for any vehicle with whatever ends are required, cut to any length. The hoses come in a range of 15 colours with six colours of ends, so you can match or contrast as you wish; colour code your brake hoses to match your car! Prices are very competitive so just call Russ Bost at Furore for a quote at the other end of 01268 565 169 or 07905 879 407 or check out their website at www.furorecars.co.uk

The side pods are too square to properly look like an F1 car. It isn't bad but it looks too much like something someone made in their garage. And the wheels are just wrong.

It's very easy to criticise minor issue like this if you haven't poured your own blood sweat and tears into the project. Personally I reckon it's a fantastic achievement, I'd be very proud to have completed such a project.

I believe the car was originally designed around the concept of the 2002 ferrari. Its therefore quite similar. Personally i prefer the square side pods, never been a fan of hte D shaped wasted pods they now run (yeah, i know its more areodynamic, but it looks to me rubbish)

Thanks for that iank - I hadn't seen it. I agree the sidepods are a bit "slabby" although it was the 2001 car that I used as a general template where things like the width of the twin engines didn't force my hand. Here's a pic of the new sidepods

which are more tapered. Any comments, good or bad are always appreciated, but bear in mind it was never meant to be a replica of anything. The first customer car is in Jordan livery (EJ11 era) & he's got a full set of body decals so will look very different.

Im with Russ on this one. Panels can always be modded later but its the wide band of mechanical parts that the customers want that he is trying to cover.

I wasn't trying to be offensive, it's just my northern honesty coming out.

For many years I've thought about making my own car but have only got as far as drawings and a few experiments with GRP and things. Flat sides with radiused egdes are the easiest of shapes to make, though still difficult. I just don't like that look.

Ha!!
I wimped out of Chelmsford and I've got a roof!!!!

Mount Bures is a fairly effortless run across country from the Marks Tey junction through Great Tey and Chappel....

But as some of the people who were unfamiliar with the road last time found out....
there is a hump-back bridge between Chappel and Mount Bures...

Basically, it's 'turn left at Colchester and drive on a bit'. 3 miles or so from where you turn off the A12.

To be exact - it's a high, sharp and SUDDEN hump-back bridge! First time I drove over it in my Yaris, my wife and I managed to leave our seats...
