Airbox
Due to the major differences in the height of the CBR1000RR engine that we are fitting, I have had to chop quite a lot out of the bottom of the airbox
to get the bonnet on.
Can anyone recommend a suitable method of plugging the BIG holes. I have kept all of the plastic that i've cut out and have access to a plastic
welder. Some form of flat sheet would be good. Would it be ok to use a sikaflex type sealer to seal some of the gaps.
It won't be tidy I know but it's only temporary and you won't see the ugly bit. Next year I will build an Aluminium plenum.
Would be good for the students to hear it run before they finish their Qualification.

I have to do something similar with the remains of my airbox. I am using a carbon sheet (aquired from work!) but any sort of fairly rigid plastic
would do. Just make sure any adhesive/sealant you use is 'sensor-safe'. As they cure they can give off rather nasty fumes which can damage
sensors.
Would you be better off desining your own bespoke box?

Buy a hot melt glue gun for a few quid, you'll probably get some sticks with it to do the job and it will come in for other stuff as well.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I will be making an air box in the long run, but I'm overseeing a group of students on the build (I've done most of it) and have limited
time this term.

Good one I'd forgot about the hot glue gun.
I did wonder if sikaflex would be too smelly, but I'm not planning to run lambda control. We will during a mapping session though. Sensor safe
sealant I havn't used yet but may give that a try too. I do have a big tube of windscreen sealant which doesn't smell when cured.
