Brooklands Centenary Event

Went today, cracking event well worth a visit.

linky thing

Some of the cars are awesome, also had a lynx helicoptor flying upside down, barrel rolling and looping the loop.

Although I do not like mercs a pre war straight 8 formular 1 car won the day for me, just on sound alone !

The napier was just huge bombing around the track, lots of old frazer nashes, sunbeams etc trundling around.

Its a great place to visit, i was there last week while al the preperations were ongoing for the event.

Sadly cant make it this weekend

Would make a good venue for a mass meet, luckily i am local so i manage to get down there a fair few times during the year.

Brooklanks.... What track are they using? Did MercWorld build a small one in the end as Looke King's has long since unraceable due to roads and the local 15 year olds.

Cool.
I know they were told they couldnt have one initally but obviously some negotiations happened
Not really been up that way since I moved but zoomed past it on the train and read about it in Architects Journal. Seems to be a pretty impressive building!

Re: meetings.

Mazda Rotary Club used to have a meet here as their first meet of the year. Was always a good get together and an interesting place to have it! Even better then if they now have a track, would love to see that Napier running!

If its broke, fix it. If it aint broke, take it apart and find out how it works!

A few of us local to the museum normally try and make the new years day meet, it basically an open club meet and a fair few turn up to blow the cobwebs off and see the year in.
