Could've made it more efficient (and maintainence free) by doing away with chain and having direct drive.
Prefer an engine that makes a bit of noise meself

Nice, but $15k-$12k?
Even at 2:1 exchange rate that's a big spend on a bike.

You'd have to stick a Park Drive packet in the spokes to make a noise or nobody would know you were about to hit them  Get an
electric assisted pushbike for £400ish and a real motorbike for fun.
