200k Corsa's being recalled

ABS system catches fire (ironically as its only function is to try to improve safety)

They will get less than 200k cars back. There is at least 1 a week lands upside down in a field near me at a bad bend

i own a corsa and regular member of a corsa forum, this was discovered a long time ago and vaux have done a shite job with the recall, there have been people on the forum who have had their cars set fire in the middle of the night - this was when vauxhall know about the problem!

takes the piss!

Vauxhall almost certainly don't make their own ABS. It is most likely some arguement between them and their suppler that has caused the delay. No-one likes a recall. They are million-pound expensive and everyone argues who will foot the bill.

Absolutely, depends how you do the accounting, but Vauxhall will have to pay the main stealers to do the work. Wild but reasonable guess of £50 per car taking into account mechanic time and parts gives £10 million plus any compensation they are forced to pay for the ones that went up.

its no the abs unit that causes the problems, its the earthing on the chassis leg, the solution is to clear off the spade connector with wet n dry paper, coat it in solder and then put some heat shrink tube around it and say problem solved

amazing what you learn after 2 weeks of work experience at a vauxhall garage

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but its sinking, Racing around to come up behind you again, the sun is the same in a relative way but your older, shorter of breath and one day closer to death

How does this spade connector cause fires in the middle of the night? Does it become detatched from the chassis and short out on something else?

My old Combo got recalled for this ages ago now, so long ago in fact that I don't have it any more. It's actually had another recall since that one as well (another wiring fault)...

Save Vauxhall the aggro, and do the rest of us a favour, and throw a match in the window
